MAGNETIC TIDES IS HIRING FOR TWO DIFFERENT PROJECTS

A. kTMP for motor recovery in chronic stoke patients

Project Overview: This project aims to evaluate kilohertz transcranial magnetic perturbation (kTMP), as a new, noninvasive brain stimulation treatment of motor impairments in patients with chronic stroke. The goal is to examine the neuroplastic effects of kTMP when combined with motor rehabilitation and to determine the extent of functional recovery following stimulation.

* Visa sponsorship is not available for any of these positions

Open Roles

  • Postdoctoral Scholar (UCSF): This person will be a key player in overseeing the clinical trial, working closely with the PIs, the director of Research of Magnetic Tides, and the other scientists. They will also be in charge of analyzing data collected during experiments, preparing results for presentations and publications, and mentoring junior staff. Additionally, they will play a key role in writing new grant applications. Click here for more information.

  • Neurorehabilitation Research Assistant (Magnetic Tides): This team member will work directly with patients during kTMP sessions, focusing on motor rehabilitation and clinical assessments. Responsibilities include administering standardized neurological and behavioral assessments, assisting patients with basic motor rehabilitation exercises, monitoring patient safety and comfort during sessions, supporting data collection, and contributing to the broader research team. Click here for more information.

  • Brain Stimulation Research Assistant / Grant Manager (Magnetic Tides): This team member will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating the kTMP equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort during stimulation sessions. They will also assist in the development and execution of research projects. This person will also work closely with the PI to organize current grant material and submit new grant applications. Click here for more information.

  • Clinical Research Coordinator (Magnetic Tides): This person will be responsible for identifying, screening, and enrolling eligible patients. They will also coordinate patient visits and help administer clinical evaluation scales. The Patient Recruiter will split their time between the stroke study and a separate anhedonia research projectClick here for more information.

B. kTMP for Anhedonia in MDD patients

Project Overview: This project aims to evaluate kilohertz transcranial magnetic perturbation (kTMP), as a new, noninvasive treatment for anhedonia (the inability to feel pleasure) in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). The research will use fMRI to identify patient-tailored targets for kTMP stimulation. Activity within the individualized network will be monitored with fMRI, alongside measures of anhedonia, across the course of treatment.

Open Roles

  • Lead Scientist (Magnetic Tides): This position is for a senior researcher who will provide leadership in overseeing and implementing the clinical trial. Working in collaboration with the PIs and supported by the research team, this individual will manage all aspects of the study, ensure rigorous adherence to protocols, and take responsibility for data analysis, interpretation, and dissemination through publications. The role also includes contributing to new grant applications and providing mentorship to junior team members. Click here for more information.

  • Postdoctoral Scholar (UCSF): This person will be a key player, specifically leading the neuroimaging efforts. Their work will focus on using fMRI to identify personalized brain targets and analyze the collected data. They will be responsible for preparing the results for presentations and publications, and will mentor junior staff. Additionally, they will assist with the writing of new grant applications. Click here for more information.

  • Clinical Research Assistant / Brain Stimulation Assistant (Magnetic Tides): This team member will be the primary point of contact for patients during the study. They will be responsible for administering clinical assessments and evaluations. They will also learn to set up and operate the kTMP equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort during stimulation sessions. Click here for more information.

  • Clinical Research Coordinator (Magnetic Tides): This person will be responsible for identifying, screening, and enrolling eligible patients. They will also coordinate patient visits and help administer clinical evaluation scales. The Patient Recruiter will split their time between the anhedonia study and a separate stroke research project. Click here for more information.
